Celebration of Life
Pastor Oluwafunmilayo Adeola Alabi

Our beloved Olufunmilayo Adeola Alabi (popularly known as PFA) was born on 27th November 1979 to late Engineer Emmanuel Oluwafemi and Winifred Abimbola Awoyinfa who was a school teacher at the time. She was born at St Nicholas Hospital in Lagos and attended her early education at Chrisland Primary School, Ikeja.

As the only daughter from her mother, she was dotted on by the family and it was little wonder that she became her mother's confidant and cherished by her siblings.

Dearest Pastor Ma, what a beautiful life you lived. You were a pace setter per excellence, a result producer, a solutions bank (no impossibility with you), you were full of life and love, a gift that gave ceaselessly… You were a warrior for the Gospel, leading courageously from the front… Your life was an epistle full of praise to the Father, your passion contagious & provoking… Indeed, what a beautiful life you lived, full of impact & praiseworthy. Thank you ma for the years of training & investment.. i am blessed to have worked with you for 13years. Death truly is swallowed up in Victory… for you fought for the Gospel to the end. Till we meet again ma, at the rapture of the Church, where we will join you in singing to the Lord. I love you so dearly ma & miss you so much.

You are one of a kind. Thanks for always exuding Christ’s love. Here is my farewell tribute to a valiant soldier. Well done, grateful PFA. You lived every moment like it was the last, indeed heaven has gained. At 10am, on the same day you transitioned, we had a chat, and you promised to send me a text message afterwards. Till we meet again, Adieu ❤️

Dearest PFA, I recall your visit to our hotel room at OMNIA in February, so heartwarming, smiling and amiable as usual. We spent quite some time catching up on family, kids and ministry. We were looking forward to seeing you and Dcn this June.
It has been extremely difficult to comprehend, especially knowing that we exchanged daily chats, Monday through Thursday last week. You were sending me updates on messages from the Staff Week daily. I woke up every morning to a new text, and then none on Friday morning. I wanted to call and ask why you forgot to send it. I quickly brushed it off and told myself “I’m sure PFA is probably busy”
I went about my day and got the first call, which I also took lightly and said “oh I’m sure she’s just tired, she’ll be fine and up in few minutes”
I still can’t fathom the second call. I checked my phone again, hoping it’s unreal. You always call me mum, the love and laughing emoji you sent last, will remain comforting and assuring of your very awesome and exceptional personality.
Thank you for extending your love and care to Barry, Michelle and Vera during SOM.
Thank you for the delicious plantain chips, you ensured gets delivered unfailingly on each visit.
Thank you for investing your exceptionalism in all our lives.
You are indeed divinity personified, an embodiment of love, and out-working of ministry.
I will miss you my darling sister and friend. Rest on until we meet again. I love you verily verily.💕

Pastor Funmi as she was popularly known right from her Ife days has always being a lover of God and humanity. That she ended up a pastor is strange but fulfilling to those of us who knew her.
That she has transited to the beyond is shocking but we take solace in the fact that she must be at peace with her maker.
May those she left behind be comforted and may every of her shortcomings as a person be forgiven.

Like a candle in the wind. Bright now, gone suddenly.
Adieu our Pastor Funmi.
Rest on till we meet in the best place to be.

My Dearest PFA!

It shouldn’t have been you that we would be paying tribute to in this way. I was in shock for hours when I heard, …….like how is it even possible? To think that I just thought of you on Sunday, about how I was going to share my staff week note with you as I have always done for a couple of years now, and then boom, I saw you on a friend’s status. I had to call him immediately because I couldn’t process what I had just read.

My ever-charming Pastor Funmi, big sister, and senior friend……….I honestly can’t control the tears each time I remember that you are no more with us on this side of heaven. Even though we don’t get to see each other often, it’s never a dull moment with you anytime our paths crossed.

My first ever encounter with you was in 2012 and you have since left an indelible mark on me. It was love at first sight indeed because that same day, I got promised gifts which you delivered as said. Even though we didn’t work in the same confine, it was always a beautiful time to catch up each time we got to see each other. “Bose ma gbagbe lati send note e simi o, omo pe mo busy pelu seminars ati setup so mi o ko anything and you know your notes are always comprehensive,” those were your lines to me whenever we crossed paths during ministry programs. It became a norm that I no longer wait for you to tell me before doing the needful.

I remember seeing you last on January 29th, 2023 at CE LZ4 Zonal church, during their CGI program. I helped you get the Ministers’ package ready, you insisted I eat from your food and we joked about my plans of traveling out of the country. You were going to call Pastor Mo that you already got a staff for her amongst other things. I had to practically drag myself away from the venue because the gist and fun time were unending. More like we needed to say all that was to be said because I was leaving in days. Little did I know that that would be the last time I would interact with you.

PFA of God! We are comforted knowing that you’ve only gone ahead of us to be with the Lord. It’s painful but the thought of seeing you again on the resurrection morning gives us all the hope we need.

Thank you for the investment of your personality in several people all around the world and thank you for making ministry beautiful to us.

I love and miss you, my Dearest Pastor Funmeme!

My dearest Pastor Funmi
Grateful PFA. My darling aburo. Where do I start from? When my Dad passed on, in 2001 and we came for the burial in Ife, you were assigned to work with me, grim.campus ministry for that period. At that time my kids were small. So you were with me at the hotel, taking care of them, staying with them amidst so many other things you did for me as my ‘personal assistant’ for that period.
After the burial, a few years later, I met you, working in the ministry. You were always personal about me. You always called me Mom or Momsie. You called my children your aburos. You were always jovial, joyful, caring, loving, full of zest and so much more.

We always worked on programs and you were always in charge of drinks and cocktails. The last programme we worked together was on 31st of December and you were there again , ensuring I tasted the various cocktail drinks. Always doting on me as usual, trying to ensure I was comfortable in every way possible.

Grateful PFA, I know you have taken an earlier flight and we will see you on Rapture day.

Till we meet in the air.

Sleep well my sweet special aburo

It’s so shocking and unbelievable till now. Wish someone could tell me it’s a joke. Pastor Funmi and I started our service in Headquarters at the same time fresh out of university, and what made her stand out for me was her humility. It wasn’t an issue of ‘O’ She’s a Pastor and I am a sister. She was so relatable, and so friendly. Always smiling, hardworking, and so warm. We just hit it off. We are both November Queens, and born the same year, so we were quite close until my relocation which didn’t stop us from communicating from time to time on the socials. O Pastor Funmi, indeed the good ones are leaving too soon to enjoy the Masters’ presence. We rejoice, but still your physical absence, positive vibes, and humour will be sorely missed. For now we will relish the memories. Enjoy Sis, we shall meet again!

PFA !
I am still short of words. Aaaaah. Heyyyyy. This two words suddenly became very common in my mouth since on Sunday evening, after I left the house. They fly out of my mouth unconsciously, at the thought of not seeing you anymore on this side of heaven. Then I think about Morayo,Tomisin and Deacon and before I know it, my body is feeling feverish. I still don’t know what to say to Dcn. What I have been saying is : “Dear Holy Spirit, console and strengthen your son, Dcn Wale and his entire family”.

That you will be greatly missed is an understatement. God knows best.

Goodnight most esteemed Pastor Funmi, a beautiful & gallant soldier of Christ!

I met esteemed Pastor Funmi in 2013 when I came for a meeting with her in Wapsico, and she was the Zonal Partnership Manager for CE Lagos Zone 1 then.
Earlier that week was my birthday, and immediately after the meeting, she gifted me a beautiful pair of earrings, prayed for me and asked everyone present to sing for me.
I was pleasantly surprised because I just met her for the first time (one-on-one) and she gave me a birthday gift.
She has been so good, kind, helpful and warm to me at all times and even when I met her again at the HQ, she was always so cheerful, friendly and loving.

I greeted her on Friday morning, she hyped me as she would normally do and hugged me so warmly, then few hours later… Pastor Ma, thank you for living a beautiful and impactful life for the Lord, indeed, you will be greatly missed!
I LOVE & MISS YOU SO MUCH!

My dear sweet Pastor Funmi,
Since your demise , I wake up everyday hoping it was just a bad dream but really you’re gone to be with the Lord. Your last message to me on Friday at 8:37am was ” I salute you, well done on all the excellent work” and I missed your call at 8:41am. How would I have known that it would be the last time.
Since I’ve known you, you’ve always been a sweet, wonderful, helpful and ever vibrant. I remember when I told you about am exam I needed to write, you took it personally, helped me get all the materials I required and followed me up to do it well. I miss her this time, I miss how you burst into my office and say “Deaconess, no cookies?, no chocolate?, no cake?, didn’t anybody celebrate their birthday?, there has to be cake”.
Your love for the Lord, the work of the ministry and for your boss is contagious and worthy of emulation. The passion you have can be felt afar off. You’re indeed a burning and a shining light.
To say I will miss you is an understatement. Adieu Adieu a gallant soldier, a sweet sister and a friend. I love you.

Pastoress as a small group of us call you. To us you are more than PFA you are many things in many ways. It is difficult for me to use past tense so i will use present.
1st time i met you was when you were in OAU and home on holiday, you were lined up to speak during one of our youth meetings at Regenerated Outreach which i was part organising. We struck a sisterhood since then and i look up to you as my big sister.
Post school you came to work in church we continued our friendship. It is always a delight to work with you on many projects from LCC Church to Camp ground church then to LCC1 and to LCA church. You always give your best an honest perspective to things. You were never caught with idle talking you are busy about the work of God and do it with diligence and charm. You smile and infect others to smile. You work to make things possible and always gives your input to make things better. You love celebrating people, you love taking pictures ever ready with a smile. Pastor Funmi was available to celebrate birthdays of ministry leader, she attends events that are importsnt to you, she will support you in her own way. For me your presence was enough as you bring lighr into ever room you get into.
You got married to Dcn Wale who is also a wonderful friend of mine, for me this was a match made in heaven.
During my wedding one of the days in church you asked what was left undone and you gave me contacts for the outstanding things and spoke to someone to take me shopping too. We have our special sitting areas in church. At LCA childrens church was our new meeting point when you come to pick the girls. It was a time for a quick catch up. Ebels like you will always call me. Pastoress i love you and this news is heart breaking. To be honest i am still coming to terms with this. Of course i know you are in heaven with our Lord whom you love with your heart. You are missed big time. I love you

I have known you now for more than 20 years. You have been consistent and fully committed to anything you set out to do. Always asking questions to get the best and right information to make your work better. I really have not been able to wrap your passing around my head. I still remember seeing you in church on Sunday dropping I’d the children and picking them from the children’s church. You were always smiling and looking out for others. You were beautiful inside out. We had our times and moments. I trust and know that all is well and God remains a good God. Till the morning when we all meet at the rapture of the church. I love you and always will.

Pastor Funmi as most people know her as PFA was a unique, kind and fun person to be around. She was very caring and we can tell that she goes over and beyond in her love for people. When she heard about the birth of the twins, she came to the hospital to see us the very next day. I didn’t think or expect her to come but she came and it meant a lot to us. My family members present on that day got to know her because of her loving and caring character. The first hair bands my children had on their hair was given to them by her. PFA was a selfless person and you could never be upset with her. I will miss you and the memories I have of you will never be forgotten. You left so quick but I know you are in a much better place because to live is Christ and to die is gain. I love and will miss you PFA.

MY SISTER, MY FRIEND & CO LABOURER.

Pastor Funmi, You were very unique, very loving and loveable. Always full of life, always about the work. You obviously enjoyed your service to God in ministry….22years is no joke. You were on duty, at work and at war till the very end. You were ready to spend and be spent serving Jesus who you loved. Every time we spoke you shared deep insights and lessons from your wealth of experience in ministry. Sometimes you did with the most hilarious expressions; You made me laugh so much. You spoke highly of your Boss and those you worked with overtime.
Pst Funmi, your were loyal to the core.
Whenever u knew we would meet at a programme or an event you’ll send me an advance notice and tell me how I should prepare to recieve you. You’ll always want us to take a photo. Those pictures I now treasure even more, I’ll look at them and remember you my sister until that morning.
I miss you so much beyond what I can express. I love you dearly.
See you in the morning my sister.

Just like the Rapture
“…..One day we would have said the last goodbyes……” I recalled the words of my man of God talking about the Rapture, but never did I think of a different application of that phrase. We were to see later in the day only to realize you meant “That day that never ends.” Thank you for being a big sister and a friend. You’d always check on me and the family. Thank you for the many meeting notes you’d share with me for your love and care. I will miss you so much on this side of heaven, but I’m looking forward to meeting the ever cheerful you at the Rapture of the church. You fought a good fight. You lit the room once you’re in, and now heaven rejoices for your light shines on. You’ve moved into timelessness and far removed from the corruption that’s in this world.

Rest on, sisterly!

You were my Sister, friend, and Confidant, i grew up not having someone to relay with like a sister but meeting you brought a whole new meaning to sisterhood.Your ever cheerful and outspoken nature complemented my quiet self .
We spoke at least once everyday, and when peradventure we cant probably for a few days,we started the conversation with HAPPY NEW YEAR. We always Went over the day together and relay an entire day and more in a telephone conversation, and when we saw each other there was no stopping us, As the days goes by i dont know how i would go through my day without thinking of calling you, infact several things have happened in this past few days that i had thought of calling you.
We spent time encouraging and propelling each other to do more for the master, even as were awaiting the Master’s return ,
Your drive for the Master’s work was very contagious and ever so inspiring, you couldn’t finish a Conversation without saying what more you needed to do in CGI, you gave your all to your work and you were so passionate about the Ministry.you helped without entitlement ,you understood without pretention and you cared unconditionally.Am grateful to God for the times we shared ,
thank you for the laughter you brought everytime you came.
Our last conversation was on Thursday evening and as usual it kept me looking forward to seeing you. Now that you have gone ahead your works live after you and am comforted by the assurance of the rapture. I am missing you.

I’m not so sure how to do this or where exactly to start from.

It’s one of those things I never thought I’d be doing especially for you my beloved wife.

Funmi, you were vibrant, full of life, selfless and ever so passionate about the Lord and the ministry.

You simply exuded the love and excellence of God’s spirit everytime one is around you.

You brought joy, love, laughter and cheer to all that knew you and everyone that you met.

She was one of those few people that had a way of leaving an indelible mark of warmth, kindness and generosity even if it was your very first time of meeting her.

You were friendly, always willing to help and had a heart of compassion for people and loved the brethren specially.

You put ALL of yourself literally into every responsibility, duty or role you occupied. Your number one desire always, was for your work to be pleasing and acceptable to the Lord and that it is executed with the excellence that have become a standard & hallmark for the ministry.

You were a passionate soul winner who used every opportunity, time and chance permitted you to reach out to lost souls.

Funmi, you were dependable, loyal, reliable, and result oriented.
You took your role and work in the ministry personal and would often go over and beyond to ensure the right results were obtained.

Somehow, even though you were all of this and more to so many, you still found time to be an amazing wife and a super mum to our two children.

I particularly loved watching you laugh and dance with Tomisin and Morayo. They meant the world to you and you wouldn’t trade any and every opportunity you had to spend quality time with them.

Your life was filled with so much beauty and colour. Your smile and laughter was infectious. Your love, absolutely pure and sincere. There was never a dull moment with or around you.

You were also ever endearingly courteous and respectful.

You were a lover of God and life.

Your family was beyond your immediate nuclear and extended families.
You shared your love, life and passion with the body of Christ.

Simply put, Pastor Funmi Alabi was a Christian. One that loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully, diligently, unreservedly, unapologetically and unconditionally.

Funmi, you are everything and so much more to us and we are grateful to the Lord for the many lives you touched and impacted for God’s kingdom.

You served God passionately and diligently even until the very end.

We are thankful for the outpouring of love, kindness and support we’ve received from family, friends and indeed the ministry.

I wish the kids and I had just one more opportunity to tell you how so dearly we love you, how so much we appreciate all that you stood for and did for us and how so proud of you we’ve always and will always be.

While we would have wanted to spend more time with you on this side of eternity, we are assured that we will meet again on the resurrection morning.

In all, God is still God

Love always,

I am shocked beyond words at the passing of our dearest Funmilayo. Words fail me, and I am unable to express how much she meant to the family. However, we do not mourn like those without faith. I thank God for her life and the memories we have, which will last a lifetime. I believe she is resting in the bosom of the Lord and that she lived her life according to Gods will. Rest in peace Funmilayo.

An Ode To My Bosom Friend

I’m so privileged you chose to spend your last 5 days on earth with me… memories I will for ever cherish.
You were one of a kind. You loved the Lord and served Him wholeheartedly until your last breath. Your life was an inspiration, a gateway and signpost for others to know and serve the Lord.

You were family oriented, very jovial, respectful, helpful, considerate and accommodating. You would go out of your way to ensure everyone was fine. You never missed Omoluca’s birthday gift… any occasion was an avenue for you to bless others. You had your way with everybody and brought so many together.

You were extremely loving, gracious and (far too) kind. You were highly expressive; eloquent, bright and bubbly. You were a friend to everyone, irrespective of status or class and you had the expertise to deal with everyone uniquely.

You were exceptionally talented and smart. There was more to you than your sheer and serene brilliance. Your benevolence, selflessness, simplicity, humility, sense of humour and comprehension were the hallmark of our relationship – reasoned we gelled so well.

You were a reservoir of knowledge. You were well informed, a great influencer and organiser. You knew it all.. What would I do without you Babes – You were my confidant!

You were a gallant soldier and made a valiant effort in fighting a good fight. My dearest Sister and Friend, Funmi, you were strong, God fearing, courageous, tenacious, industrious and focused. You were a goal getter and indispensable in the realisation and achievement of any given assignment.

Ore mi, I have been waiting to wake up from this dream…waiting for you to call or buzz me like you usually do every day…It’s the strangest feeling not to hear from you this long!
@gratefulpfa – I’m grateful for the bond we shared. You were my friend indeed and you proved it till the last moment.

I miss you Ore mi ata ta! Till we meet at the resurrection…!

Aunty Funmiyoyo!
You mean so much to me and I loved you so very dearly. There was never a time you weren’t smiling and being your ever jovial self. Always ready to listen and advise, ever so willing to help no matter how little. Last time I saw you was at uncle Yinka’s burial and we had fun together and you even took a video of the moment and I am grateful I got to hug you twice and kiss you as something in me felt drawn to do that when you were leaving.
Words can’t express how sad I am having to write this now. I prayed and begged God for a miracle. I wished this was a nasty nightmare, but at last it isn’t! I love you and always will, never will you depart from our hearts and our minds
Till we meet at Jesus’s feet
